Backing Up The Sentinel Lite Data-Base
Should your PC crash or need replacing you would have to re-enter all of the configuration and user information from scratch, this can be a time consuming job, not to mention frustrating as your Sentinel Lite access control system would not be fully operational until you had re-entered all configuration information. It is recommended that you make a backup as soon as your system is up and running correctly.

The time taken to get your Sentinel Lite access control system up and running can be minimised if you periodically back-up the Sentinel Lite data-base (VisiLite.mdb) and the two files config.sav and monitor.sav all of which can be found in the Sentinel Lite installation directory:
C:\Program Files\Morley Electronics Limited\Sentinel Lite

The VisiLite.mdb and .sav files hold all of the software configuration, card user details, photo-ID badges, controller configuration and network configuration, therefore your Sentinel Lite system can easily be restored to working order.

There are two ways to back-up the data-base and the .sav files.

1) Make a copy of them on to a network drive.
2) Make a copy of them on to a CD ROM.

This will allow Sentinel Lite to be re-installed easily and get it back to the configuration it was in at the time of the most up to date back-up.

Please note:
When you place files on a CD they will have the read only attribute set when you subsequently copy them back onto the PC, you must select properties for each of the files and un-tick the read pnly attribute.
